Every summer on the North Shore of Oahu, artists, jewelry designers and creative minds gather at the Haleiwa Arts Festival. We've gone every year since we moved to Hawaii.
A few summers ago we met Christie Shinn, an artist based in Canada, who's art is inspired by her yearly trips to Hawaii during surf season. Although she is most known for her surf art (including her Vans Triple Crown of surfing artwork) she also does illustrative and commercial projects.
Christie is one of the nicest people I know. Her personality is reflected in her artwork, bright, cheerful and fun!
She has been a source of inspiration and encouragement for me as a fellow artist. She never hesitates to help, answering any question I've asked.
Ben and I have been fans of hers for years now and make a point to support and share her work with others.
Today we saw Christie at the Haleiwa Arts Festival and bought a few more pieces to add to our collection.
If you'd like to see more of her work, check out her website and follow her on Facebook and Instagram.
